as to why smashing a T-top was the path of least resistance... I live in downtown Chicago. So, the suggestion about a cop, well, very funny, thanks, I needed that. It would take a screaming baby in the back seat, a 100* degree day, and a set of C cups to explore that route. Locksmith, sure, a possibility, but I didn't have the 3-4 hours to wait while a semi was blocking the better part of a cuty street. Cheaper pane of glass, possibly, but this car will be stored outside for the near future, and any other piece of glass would mean a hole in the car. Did I mention its been raining here? Yeah yeah, we're no Texas. coat hanger... tried, but the key was jammed in the ignition and required quite a bit of dexterity to actually remove. Oh, and I have a T-top farm here at the office. Remnants of a previous winter's project on the T-tops in my other Z. So, while a worn Z key does sound like a better option, it got the job done, the car is now secure enough to leave outside, and the semi driver was able to leave on time.
